Recap of Meet #2

Thursday before my meet, I had work. I thought it would be tiring, but it actually helped me keep my mind off the fact that I was thirsty. This day I cut my water down to only half a gallon.

Fortunately I was still able to eat my normal meals. I woke up right at my weight (123). I checked my weight a few times this day, I was 123 all three times. YAY!

Off of work, I packed for the weekend, and went to bed. I felt like a little kid leaving for Disneyland in the morning.

Friday morning. I woke up and was 122. Ugh. I wanted to be a little lighter. So I decided to take an Epsom salt bath. I’m not a fan of hot Epsom salt bathes first thing in the morning, especially when you are dehydrated. I tend to get very dizzy and feel nauseous. NEVER FUN! But I pushed through those fun feelings.

Tony and I were now in the car. I was wearing baggy sweats and a big sweatshirt… And had a very attractive cup to spit in.

About two hours later we made it to the gym. I got all my gear checked. Got my rack heights. AND NOW WEIGH INS! (bum, bum, bummmmm!) 56kgs! Right on point with my weight! WOOHOO!

Now it was time to rehydrate and eat!

The first thing I drank was Pedialite. I absolutely love that stuff! Then Tony and I went to breakfast.

We went to the Busy Bee Café in Springfield, OR. It was the cutest little family owned breakfast place. So many positive vibes! I loved it! And of course I wanted to eat the biggest stack of pancakes with all the chocolate chips, syrup, and whipped cream… But NO! I ordered something similar to what I normally eat. Which was… -Hashbrowns -Egg Whites -One Whole Egg -Sausage -Whole Wheat Toast -Black Coffee -Water and Pedialite :)

I have only done two meets, but I have heard that a lot of lifters tend to eat like crap after weigh ins. This is something that I knew I just couldn’t do. And I am very lucky to have my coach (Jason Theobald) and Tony to keep me in check.

I eat so clean and regimented on a regular basis, it would be silly to eat like crap. I am used to performing with clean foods. So it only makes sense to keep in clean before and during a meet. So… I was eating pretty much everything I always eat (minus veggies), just more of it! More carbs! I was also taking NA-RA-LA and Digest Gold. I was taking these two supplements to help my body properly utilize the carbs and help digest all the food.

I was now two meals in. I was now on my way back to the gym to get in a small total body workout. This was fun. I was feeling good! Plus, after dehydrating myself and then eating all the carbs, I liked the way I looked! Haha. I was being a little bit of a bro, and flexing in the mirrors.

For the rest of the day I just rested and ate. I also got up every few hours to more around and do some mobility work. OH AND, can’t forget about the awesome sushi I ate for my last meal! SOOO GOOOD!

Saturday morning! THE DAY HAS COME!

I woke up at like 3:45am! Lol. My body is so used to waking up at 4am. (not a bad thing) But I know that I needed to rest more. So I kept making myself go back to sleep.

6:20am my alarm went off!

-Get up -Get Dressed -Make some food -Pack up all my stuff -Double, Triple check all my stuff -Eat some food

Now I’m at the gym. The set up looked great! I was so anxious to get lifting! Butterflies in the stomach.

I kept asking Tony when I needed to eat, when I needed to warm up… ALL THE QUESTIONS! (so thankful to have him by my side!) It was warm up time. Everything was feeling great! I was a little too hyped up though. I needed to calm down. I’m a calm lifter regularly, no changing that now.

I lifted, I ate, I rested. Such an amazing day. Once I am able to calm down, I see meet day as another day at the gym. I just get to eat more food, have people to load and unload all my weights, and I have a bunch of cheerleaders! Why can’t every day be like that?!

If you follow me, then you know that I finished the meet completing my first and second attempts for all three lifts. Missing all my third attempts. At first, I wasn’t very happy about that, especially when it came to my deadlifts. But I took a moment to myself, and thought about what I just did.

I PR’d all my lifts ON MY SECOND ATTEMPTS. I PR’d my total! I came in first place; and I won best lifter. How could I not be happy about all of that? Sure I expected more from myself, but if I didn’t expect more… Then that would be a problem. You’ve got to aim high!

Thinking back to my second meet, I really did have a blast! I was at my best that day. I had my amazing boyfriend taking care of me. A fellow Kabuki lifter, Mike, came to cheer me on. And all of the people at the meet were so nice.

And now I am very excited to get back into the gym, and get back to work. I will be doing an eight week cut. The first week after my meet is just getting back to my normal schedule and having fun in the gym. After that I will be leaning out and working on both my powerlifting weaknesses, as well as sculpting my physique.
