𝐻𝑒𝓁𝓁𝑜 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝐻𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓎 𝒯𝓊𝑒𝓈𝒹𝒶𝓎!!!
It is August 20th!!!! Goodness! Already almost September! Where has this year gone?!
The holidays are right around the corner! Which I'm actually super excited about because I love the holidays! Let's see how early I start to listen to Christmas music this year! :)
Before we start talking about вєhαvíσrs tσ αdσpt... Let's do a quick recap of what has been going on.
This past Saturday I competed in my very first strongman competition. It was a blast! I was quite nervous about it... Simply because it is a bunch of events that I do not train for. But... Not to sounds cocky... I KILLED IT :) LOL.
I came home with first place in my division, which was only Lightweight Novice. But still a first place! I also won $100! Woot woot! I have won more money in sports that I'm not pro in. Zero money from bodybuilding. Ha. Funny how that works out.
And baking is going great! Baking all of the time! And I'm in the process of making everything a "real" business. Getting license and permits and certifications needed. I am also getting a new, professional website!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!!!! Huge thanks to Kyle Jones! Tony and I have gone through him for all of our websites! He's awesome!!!
Okay... Let's get into the real blog now.
вєhαvíσrs tσ αdσpt:
1. Stop Asking Permission!
It is now Sunday 8/25/19. I had a crazy, busy week. And, this upcoming weeks is going to be busy as well! AN AMAZING BUSY! I couldn't be happier about it all. I just have to learn how to manage my time a little better as Keeks Treats grows :)
Let's continue with the blog...
STOP ASKING PERMISSION!
Obviously there is a time and place for that. But when it comes to living YOUR life and pursuing YOUR goals and dreams... I don't think you should have to ask permission. Not if you are a grown, ass adult! I say that... But yet, I tend to ask permission all the time. Tony gets on me about it.
It's like I don't have a mind of my own. Which I know I do! LOL. Do your thing!!! (note to self as well).
2. Choose One Dream and Go All In
Being an indecisive person... This one is hard for me. I also really enjoy doing a lot of different things. But, I do try to focus on one thing at a time. (keyword is try, I'm not always successful)
Take my athletic journey for example. I focused on bodybuilding for a few years. Became an Ifbb Pro. Then I took some time off of that and focused on powerlifting. Now I do them both... But I still have one as a higher priority at a certain time depending on my next competition. This can be planned out in a similar way when it come to work life.
My big dream at the moment is to build and grow Keeks Treats. I literally spend the majority of my time thinking about recipes. Packaging ideas. Decor for my future bakery/coffee shop... And the not so fun stuff... Licenses, permits, etc. That stuff is the hardest and least fun. But it needs to get done.
What is you ONE big goal/dream right now???
3. Embrace Your Ambition
am·bi·tion
/amˈbiSH(ə)n/
noun
a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.
desire and determination to achieve success.
I feel like I have always been an ambitious girl/woman/person. I have always wanted to succeed. I always wanted to do/be good at things. Whether that be school, cheerleading, lifting weights, being a good role model for my siblings and cousins, being a good daughter, being the best wife.
I want to be the best that I can be for myself and everyone around me. And I learned just how hard I could work and push myself when I started bodybuilding. So now I am embrace that side of me... And putting it towards business (and other aspects of my life).
4. Ask for Help!
THIS ONE IS HUGE! And I'm really bad at it. I try to do everything on my own. WHY? I don't really know. It's like I'm trying to prove to someone that I can handle it. I'm too good for help. Which is silly... Because then I end up getting overwhelmed. I become resentful. Stressed. And I will have a mini breakdown. ASK FOR HELP PEOPLE! And you really need to SAY IT OUT LOUD! People cannot read your mind! Believe me... I've tried. It doesn't work. Hahaha.
Asking for help doesn't make you weak, lazy, or any other silly-ness you come up with. It will HELP you! It will make you better, and one step closer to achieving your goal/dream!
Plus, I think it is nice for the people around you to feel needed/wanted. And then they are also a part of your journey. I know if I was the person being asked for help. I would feel honored & love to assist!
5. Build Foundations for Success
In this chapter of the book Rachel goes over the daily habits that you create/have. These daily habits help you "build foundations for success." You have to have a strong foundation in order to build a tall tower. And I think you have to start with yourself!!! You have to take care of yourself FIRST! I know this is hard for a lot of people, especially mothers. But if you aren't healthy and at your best... Then how in the world are you going to help/take care of others. Same thing for your business. If you aren't taken care of and feeling good. How are you supposed to work hard, and optimally to grow your business?!
My Daily Habits (that set my day up for success):
-Read and drink my coffee. This starts my day off furthering my knowledge and relaxation. It puts me in a good mood for the day.
-Physical activity. Everyone in on their own level of fitness. And if you are reading this... Then you know how important my training is to me. I love it. So I always make the time to train or get in some type of activity. Even if it is a walk on my day off from the gym. This is obviously good for my body. But also my mind and sanity. I can get a little stir crazy if I am in the house all day.
-Fuel my body with good food and water. The body needs fuel to perform. So I make sure that I am fueling it with good, quality things. Sure I eat cookies here and there. But 99% of what goes in my mouth is going to benefit me inside and out.
6. Stop Allowing Them to Talk You Out of It!
HAPPY MONDAY! (8/26/19)
Okay... Let's continue :)
When you decide that you are going to start working towards a goal/dream. When you start making positive changes in your life to better yourself (whether in business or healthy/fitness) ... The people around you tend to not like it very much. Even if they are supportive... There is normally a period of discomfort. Which is okay. Change can do that for anyone. Most people don't like change. And when you are changing in a positive way... But they are not... They will try to talk you out of what ever you are doing.
Hopefully, they don't really mean to do that. Hopefully, they get past the jealously (or whatever they may be feeling). But either way... YOU CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO TALK YOU OUT OF WORKING TOWARDS YOUR DREAM!!! It is your dream! NOT THEIRS! And unless you are hurting someone or causing harm... What they say shouldn't matter!!!
Sure, it will be hard to not have the best support by the ones you love. Sure, it will be difficult and annoying if they make fun of you for what you are doing. But just ignore them! & keep working hard!!! They don't have to understand what or why you are doing what you are doing. As long as YOU know your why... That's all that matters!
When I started bodybuilding... NONE of my friends and family understood what I was doing. NONE of them lived that lifestyle. I got made fun of. I had food waved in my face with them saying that one bite wouldn't kill me. That one shot on my 21st birthday would be okay. That I can start bodybuilding tomorrow. I was called a man... Etc, etc... But I didn't allow it to stop me! I brushed it all off. I knew that they just didn't get it. And I was okay with it. And sure enough... They people that gave me the hardest time... Were the same people who cried at my show when I earned my Ifbb Pro card!!!!
7. Learn to Say NO!
Saying NO to the ones you love is hard. Saying NO to people that ask for help is hard. Especially if you are a people pleaser. Or someone who thinks they can literally do IT ALL, FOR EVERYONE! I hate to break it to you... YOU CANNOT DO IT ALL! Not all the time, anyways.
I have heard so many times, from very successful people (on podcasts and in books) ... That if it is not a, "HELL YES!" Then you need to say, "NO!" Not in a mean or rude way... But time is so precious! And you cannot be spending your precious time on things that aren't helping you achieve your goals. I say all this within reason of course. If your loved one asks you to cuddle and watch a movie one rainy afternoon... Say YES!!!! Moments like that are amazing and priceless!!! <3
Well you guys... I think that is it for the behaviors to adopt with Rachel Hollis!
And my spin on things :)
