Female Muscle
Before I started weight lifting I never really thought anything about girls with muscle. And I definitely never would have guessed that I would be one of those girls. My boyfriend after high school told me I should give weights a shot. So I started to workout with him. At first I was very weak; and I complained quite a bit. But the more I lifted, the more I learned, and the stronger I go. I started too really like it; and the results I was getting. Then I started looking into NPC competitions/shows. And the real adventure begins.
Throughout my fitness journey, I got a lot of comments from other people. Some that were very nice and encouraging; and some that were negative. Fortunately, I loved what I was doing so much that I did not care too much about what other thought. But over the past few months I have been working on doing some self-reflection, and it turns out that I care more than I thought.
I was and still am able to continue my journey regardless of what people have to say. But some of the comments that have been made have stuck with me, and definitely haven’t helped with my low self-esteem.
Though I look tough because I am strong and have a lot of muscle mass… I am still a girl. I am still a human. Just because you may not understand someone else’s goals, doesn’t make their goals stupid, or a waste of time. When it all comes down to what I think about girls with muscle. I think that they some of the most amazing people I have ever met. (And I’m not talking about myself. Lol.)
I think that these women are so amazing because they are mothers, wives, employees, and just simply people. Just like you and me. But these women are not quite normal. Not only do they live their everyday life with their friends and family, but they also stick to their meal plans and make sure they get in their workouts, day in and day out!
So the next time you go to judge or make any comments about someone else’s goals, dreams, hobbies, anything… Think before you speak. One, you don’t know why they are doing what they are doing. Two, you don’t know what it takes to do what they are doing. And three, you don’t know how your comments may affect them. Everyone, including YOU, has their own journey… And just because it isn’t yours, does not mean that it is wrong.
