As you may know.. I do online nutrition coaching.
And with that, I set up a macro plan for my clients.
I will take what they are currently eating (calorie wise)...
& set up a starting plan.
I give my clients total macros that I want them to hit in the day. And I will normally give them training day macros and rest day macros.
With those total macros... I will break things down even further for my clients.
I give my clients a meal by meal breakdown. I like to do this because we are able to utilize nutrient timing.. And we avoid hoarding macros for specific meals.
Lately... I have had a ton of people tell me that they are having a hard time hitting their macros...
So I am writing this blog to be brutally honest with everyone.
1. If you have a goal, whether it be to lose weight or put on lean tissue.. Eating/Dieting plays a huge role in that!
2. If you want to perform at your best in the gym... Eating/Dieting plays a huge role in that as well!
3. If you want to just function at your best as a human.. Eating/Dieting... yada yada yada.
Properly fueling yourself is going to be one of the most important things you can do for yourself.
Most people these days made the time to over consume food to unhealthy foods... Why are they having a hard time consuming the right amount of healthy foods that their body is going to appreciate?!
I know I may be coming off rude or overly blunt... But I feel like we all need to hear the truth, even if it hurts.
Now that I have shared my frustration with you guys on this topic... I'm going to share with you how to GET YOUR MACROS IN!!!!!!! (no matter what your goal may be... & no matter how "busy" your schedule is).
1. MOST IMPORTANT!!!! You have to be prepared!!!! I know we all have busy lives. We all are running around trying to do it all.... But you won't be able to do anything if you aren't fueling yourself. So MEAL PREP!!! Sure.. It's not the most fun thing to do. And it does take up some time. But so does driving to McDonald's. And so does driving to the doctors office when your body has finally had enough of all the shit you are feeding it!
Here are some YouTube videos on Meal Prepping:

2. Something that helps make meal prep easier.. Is creating your meals... And have them written out somewhere. In one of my videos I show you my little cheat sheet. It really does help. You don't always have to eat those exact meals. But if you are short on time.. It helps to just make those meals quickly.
3. Have check points within your day. I have times that I know I have to eat. And I will plan my day accordingly. I get that you may not be available at that specific time one day... So you can just push the meal right before or after. If you have a day of driving.. Then plan for short stops along the way to got to the bathroom and eat a meal (unless you can eat & drive... JUST BE SAFE!).
4. Something that can make travel easier when sticking to your macros... Make easy to eat meals. You can do shakes with nut butter and fruit inside. Super easy. Sandwiches or wraps aren't too bad. You can also do some beef jerky. Just keep an eye on the macros and brand. You want it to be highest in protein! You can also do bars. I find that Combat and Quest are the most macro friendly.
5. Always keep your goal in mind!!!! You are eating to fuel yourself so you can be at your best!!!!
I honestly don't think there is a good reason on why you shouldn't be able to get your food in.
For instance, with my currently off season.. I'm eating more food than I have ever eaten before... And there are some days where I am still full from my previous meal... So I skip a meal. But I always make sure to add those macros in somewhere else.
Last night (today is 1/18/19)... I just added more protein powder and nut butter to my protein pudding in order to get all my macros for the day!!! My goal is to grow!!! And in order to do that... I have to eat!!! NOT SKIP MEALS! Get your meals in you guys!!! Stop giving yourself excuses on why you can't do something. It is possible!! You just have to put in the time and effort... And make it work!
